The newly established Emergency Pantry is a program and facility meant to augment current services and is intended to meet specific needs. Its not a food bank but can offer help in emergency situations.
Plans are ongoing to offer “short term support” as a one time only offer to help alleviate special needs that result from an emergency. To date we have assisted in offering help in over a dozen cases and also have combined supplies with small food hampers. This measure is intended as a stop gap program that requires immediate attention and is not ongoing or repetitive.
The board is preparing the policy format and guidelines for the process and limitations.
This program provides innovation with common sense and the data from collected statistics over the past five years.
