Senior’s Resizing Cooperative

The Jimmy Pratt Memorial Outreach Centre gratefully acknowledges  support funding from United Way NL in support of startup costs for  the Senior’s Resizing Cooperative.

The Cooperative is for seniors and will provide a means to save money and avoid food waste.  Starting a consumer cooperative for seniors who are facing joint issues like living in small apartments, tight budgets, and small families can have many key objectives and benefits:

Objectives:

  1. Cost Savings: The primary objective would be to collectively purchase groceries and other consumables in bulk, which can lead to significant cost savings for members.
  2. Quality and Variety: By pooling resources, the cooperative can afford to purchase higher-quality products and a wider variety of goods that might otherwise not affordable individually.
  3. Community Support: Foster a sense of community among members by collaborating on common issues and helping each other navigate challenges related to small living spaces and tight budgets.
  4. Education and Skills: The cooperative is committed to empowering its members. We will provide educational resources and workshops on budgeting, meal planning, and efficient space utilization. This will equip you with the necessary skills to maximize your resources and take control of your financial situation.
  5. Sustainability: Promote sustainable practices such as bulk buying, reducing food waste, and Eco-friendly living in small spaces.
